It has been a few years now since we were caught up in the worldwide Covid pandemic, which was said to be from March, 2020, to May, 2023 (when it was said the public health emergency ended). I'd like us to do some reflecting on that time today.
Your poem might hold space for grief, fear, hopelessness, and loss, but your poem also might consider what small lights glowed in the darkness or rose above the sadness. Did you discover unexpected stillness, connection through distance, gratitude, resilience, or moments of quiet beauty?
What did those days teach you?
What does your heart still carry from that time?
Use imagery, memory, and emotion to explore the weight, wisdom, and resilience of that shared global experience.
If you are stuck, simply think "Time of Covid," and see where your mind goes.
After you have written your poem, link it using Mr. Linky below. Remember to visit the links of others who write. Mr. Linky will be open until Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Greetings, Friends! I think the Time of Covid will always be a memorable time in our lives. Sometimes it feels to me that this Time was only yesterday, and at other times it seems like it was SO VERY long ago. I will be interested to find out what comes to your mind poetically when you think about that period of time.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary - Jae
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Jae!
DeleteIt was interesting to think back about those times. We had good leadership in Canada and, while I was afraid of the virus and horrified at the deaths occurring everywhere, I had trust in our leadership.
ReplyDeleteYes, I trusted our leadership too. I believed that they really imparted good scientific health advice!
DeleteThanks Mary for the prompt. It was a terrifying time yet it was good to see humanity working together to save every life.
ReplyDeleteYes, people from various countries worked together to develop and provide vaccines and to provide advice on how to be safe. That was a good thing.
DeleteRemembering the sane ones who worked together and took the disease seriously! They were a blessing. Unfortunately, not all our leadership believed in science and vaccines. When they were gone, naive me--I thought they were gone for good.
ReplyDeleteSo true! The anti-science folk have come back in force!
DeleteThank you, Mary, for the prompt. That was a difficult and dark time for us as a society, but also for us as individuals. All the more if were personally affected by a death due to COVID within our own family or circle of friends. I wrote much during the time, mostly entries into a diary, but it all boils down to the poem I have shared today.
ReplyDeletePS: Here are some of my entries during that time: https://www.blogger.com/blog/posts/8417961221792880115?q=CORONAVIRUS
DeleteYour poem was so thoughtful, Nick. It will stay with me for a long time. I will look at your entries later today when I have time, as I am sure they are interesting. I too did a lot of writing during Covid time.
DeleteNick, I tried to find your entries during the time of Covid and could not make the link that you posted about take me anywhere,. Can you make it into an actual link?
ReplyDeleteHello, Mary, sorry you couldn't make the URL work. I have linked up all the COVID entries of my blog ("Nick's COVID Entries") in the Linky above and tested it, and now you should be able to get to them.
DeleteI've just realised what happened, Mary. The link I give is from own logged in "Intelliblog" site so I can see it, but no others. Try this link and please delete the "Nick's COVID Entries" link from the Linky above. Sorry. Here is the (hopefully correct) link: https://nicholasjv.blogspot.com/search?q=CORONAVIRUS
DeleteNick, I did try the link in your commetnt above and was able to find your Covid entries. I read through some of them....which really, once again, reminded me of the intensity of the whole experience of Covid. Your entries are testament to that time, and I thank you for your willingness to share them with all who are interested here.
