Who We Are
Susan: During the pandemic, I published my second collection of poetry, Grieving Into Love. I continued to write my own poems sporadically, until earthweal came along, and then wrote more regularly. I attended a local once-a-month poetry gathering called Philly Poetic Resistance. I kept up with poetry posted on Facebook, and put mine there as well. In Spring 2023, I wrote to my former colleagues with the idea of beginning our own blog again. I expected they would laugh at me, but here we are.
Sherry: Slowing my pace online allowed me to focus on transcribing my body of work into self-published books. I now have a satisfying shelf of both poetry and prose. And, at long last, I finished my memoir. During my down-time, like Mary, I have written on and off to Laurie Wagner's Wild Writing prompts, which I found very inspiring. I linked at The Sunday Muse, and contributed a monthly prompt at earthweal, before they closed. I am currently contributing at Desperate Poets, earthweal's successor. Now I need motivation to pick up my pace, and I am so pleased to be back with the team. I really look forward to sharing poetry in community again.
Sumana: I began my online-poetry-writing journey almost a decade ago. Of all the works I have done in this life, spinning poems was the most satisfactory of all. Of late I was not much active online as I used to be, for various reasons. Occasionally I translated songs of Tagore or wrote Bengali poems but they never appeared on any of my blogs. Susan’s suggestion to start anew thrilled me to the core. I am once again in my home of happiness ready to be with our wonderful team for a new journey.
Mary: Beginning in the Pandemic, I used Laurie Wagner's three-times-a-week "Wild Writing" prompts for writing inspiration. I continue to be inspired by her prompts and to write three poems a week. Though I took a break from the blogosphere, since that time I have had three self-published books printed by a local company solely for my own satisfaction and to give to the close people in my life. I am ready to get my feet wet in the blogosphere again! So glad Susan suggested it and that we four are back together again.
