HOW'S THE WEATHER?

What's going on with you, friends, since last we met? It is hard not to notice the extreme weather events happening all over the world. In Canada, as in so many places around the world, we have been experiencing extended drought, (even in the rainforest where I live), wildfires across the country and the far north, unseasonal storms and tornadoes, and torrential rains in some places, causing major flooding and collapse of infrastructure. Unusual summer weather (an understatement.)

For your prompt, let us know what’s going on in your corner of the world in terms of WEATHER.

*Have you experienced any unusual or extreme weather events?
*Has the weather changed in the last few years?
*What has been happening weather-wise that has caught your attention?
*You might describe a single storm or event that was exceptional.
*Or describe what it's like outside right now.
*You could give us an over-all look at your local weather picture.
*Or you might take a larger look at climate activity globally.

Here is a poem for inspiration:

THE LAST SONG
by Joy Harjo

how can you stand it
he said
the hot Oklahoma summers
where you were born
this humid thick air
is choking me
and i want to go back
to New Mexico

it is the only way
i know how to breathe
an ancient chant
that my mother knew
came out of a history
woven from wet tall grass
in her womb
and i know no other way
than to surround my voice
with the summer songs of crickets
in this moist south night air

oklahoma will be the last song
i’ll ever sing

Please link one poem that is your response to the material of this prompt.  Please take some time to visit other links, so we build a real community here. I am so happy to be writing with you again.
