Sorry to say, I am not feeling very hopeful right now; but I / we have to get through this somehow.
In uncertain times -- politically, socially, ecologically, emotionally -- we are all carrying something: grief, anger, questions, maybe even quiet hope. I don't know about you, but I carry all of those things.
My prompt for you today is:
What survives?
What do we carry forward?
What burns away, and what do we build from the ashes?
Is there a personal or collective loss that feels hard to name?
What has endured in you despite everything?
What truth needs to be spoken, even if it shakes things up?
What would you say to thr world if it were listening?
Perhaps some of these ideas will spark your imagination:
A candle that doesn't go out.
This is what we still have.
Hope isn't gone. It's scorched.
If none of the suggested ideas appeal to you, never mind! Just write a poem about "In Uncertain Times."
Link your poem with Mr. Linky below, and be sure to visit the links of others who post! The prompt will close next Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern.
Good day, my friends! Hope this prompt inspires you this week. Amidst all uncertainty, we still have poetry. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteGood day back Mary - thank you and will be back in the morning! Jae
ReplyDeleteNice to see you, Jae!
DeleteThank heaven for poetry, to lift our spirits! Thanks, Mary, for the prompt.
ReplyDeleteYes, poetry can be a good spirit lifter for sure!
ReplyDeleteMary, thanks for this. I have been having a hard time lately, and I felt it was time to reach back and remember when I could use music to heal myself.
ReplyDeleteO, Amy! Your poem moved me to loving tears, but I don't see how to comment. Thank you for the memory and the angels and your voice.
DeleteAmy, your song, your words, made me cry too. I am so glad you shared your song with us.
DeleteI have not been able to comments on several people's sites.

ReplyDeleteThat is a bummer, Sara! I hope you figure out the issue....
DeleteHi Everyone, when you look at Amy's poem, please listen to her singing it! Really, really moving! Don't miss it.
ReplyDeleteI love it!
DeleteThank you, Mary. We live in challenging times, but we can maker a difference, be it through poetry, song, activation, voting and putting pressure on politicians.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your song!
ReplyDeleteEveryone, be sure to listen to the entirety of Nick's (Intelliblog) song, as the poem he shared is just the FIRST part of the song that is sung! It becomes even more powerful (my opinion only) as it goes on!
ReplyDeleteA truly beautiful song.
DeleteI don't have enough words to describe how I have enjoyed all the poems, songs written to this amazing prompt Mary. How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is Sumana.
