| Children (brother &sister) of Kabul, Afghanistan |
These unlimited energy bundles of innocence and curiosity
will always keep us on our toes when we meet them. If they are not
overscheduled and have enough time to be happy and if we provide them a safe
environment they will wear a face without a worry and inspire us to live.
Today’s prompt is about children.
Look at a child or a group of children and let us know
what interests you most about them. As a former teacher I could say that I was
fond of pupil watching. A quite engaging activity, I must say.
Do you miss anything of your former self after having seen them?
It is also a shame that we cannot provide all children a nurturing environment for them to grow without fear. You might consider writing about these unfortunate kids if you’ve seen them.
Now some poems about this theme:
Brown And Agile Child
Pablo Neruda
Brown and agile
child, the sun which forms the fruit
And ripens the grain and twists the seaweed
Has made your happy body and your luminous eyes
And given your mouth the smile of water.
A black and anguished sun is entangled in the
twigs
Of your black mane when you hold out your arms.
You play in the sun as in a tidal river
And it leaves two dark pools in your eyes.
Brown and agile child, nothing draws me to you,
Everything pulls away from me here in the noon.
You are the delirious youth of bee,
The drunkedness of the wave, the power of the
wheat.
My somber heart seeks you always
I love your happy body, your rich, soft voice.
Dusky butterfly, sweet and sure
Like the Wheatfield, the sun, the poppy, and the
water.
