In April there are quite a few celebrations people look forward to. Like in our State, West Bengal in India we celebrate Bengali New Year every April. The first month of the Bengali calendar is called Boishakh. Happy people out on streets are a common sight.
Like I might be busy in some extremely mundane chores but I’ll try to make a poem out of them. The mind is whimsical and sometimes out of control and if you find me celebrating on procrastination you know what I am doing. Smiles.
Therefore focus on your “feeling” / “being”/ or “doing” words in and around April and share with us.
Here is a poem from Rainer
Maria Rilke :
In April
Again the woods are
odorous, the lark
Lifts
on upsoaring wings the heaven gray
That
hung above the tree-tops, veiled and dark,
Where
branches bare disclosed the empty day.
After long rainy afternoons an hour
Comes
with its shafts of golden light and flings
Them
at the windows in a radiant shower,
And
rain drops beat the panes like timorous wings.
Then all is still. The stones are crooned to sleep
By the
soft sound of rain that slowly dies;
And
cradled in the branches, hidden deep
In
each bright bud, a slumbering silence lies.

DeleteHi everyone! I hope April around you is beautiful and exciting with its sprightly appearance. I look forward to your April words. Here in India, April is wearing a heated and angry look and scaring us a lot. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sumana. Sorry to hear it is so hot. Yikes. Here the cherry trees are in full bloom out my window. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely Sherry! I am seeing them in my mind's eye.
DeleteHi everyone. I hope the weather isn't too angry and scary, Sumana. We had a very chilly day today. Still recovering from yesterday's hospital procedure, I didn't feel up to writing another poem today, so I'm sharing a NaPoWriMo poem from Day 3. I'll be back tomorrow to read and comment.
ReplyDeleteSending you healing thoughts Kim. And thank you so much for the beautiful poem you've shared today.
DeleteStay cool Sumana.Autumn has arrived Down Under. A little nip in the air. Cool at night. Doesn't deter surfers as I watch them walk past surfboard under their arm, bare foot and dripping wet. Oops got my next poem:)
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see you Rall. How lovely that it's getting cooler day by day and the sun will look so nicer.
DeleteThank you, Sumana, for this prompt. It set me on the right track for a prompt combo. 💖
ReplyDeleteThank you too, Dora for the beautiful poem you've shared.
DeleteThanks, Sumana! A bit warm here, but not as scary as it sounds like it is where you are!
ReplyDeleteWe had a storm along with some rains last night so it feels a bit cooler now. Lovely to see you Jennifer.
